As our name suggests, at STAND our goal is to stand against prejudice. At first glance, climate change issues might not seem directly related to our mission, however, climate change and social justice are inextricably linked.

According to the United Nations Department of Economic & Social Affairs, inequality aggravates the effects of climate change and environmental damage. When someone with a lower income loses their land and consequently their job from a wildfire or hurricane exacerbated by climate change, they will lose a higher amount of wages compared to someone with a higher income. Environmental damage can snowball into other systemic issues like homelessness and poverty worldwide.

This is why we at STAND feel that helping protect the environment is essential to carrying out our mission.
